Nathan Morlando’s Edwin Boyd acquired by IFC Films stateside

Nathan Morlando’s heist film Edwin Boyd, which earned the best Canadian first feature trophy at the Toronto International Film Festival, has found a U.S. home with IFC Films.

Indie distribution maven Casian Elwes shopped the Scott Speedman-starring drama about a Canadian bank robber-turned-folk hero at TIFF to secure U.S. distribution.

Meanwhile, Kirk D’Amico of Myriad Pictures was selling Edwin Boyd internationally.

D’Amico and Elwes eventually negotiated the U.S. deal with Arianna Bocco, senior vice president of acquisitions and production for Sundance Selects/IFC Films.

Edwin Boyd, which had its world premiere in Toronto, is produced by Allison Black of Euclid 431 Pictures.

D’Amico, who executive produced Edwin Boyd along with Daniel Iron, will shop the Canadian indie picture at the American Film Market.
