Toronto’s Tricon Films & Television has snagged the international distribution rights to Rhombus Media’s Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays.
The new scripted comedy series (12 x 30 mins) premieres this fall on the CBC, following the story of a psychiatrist (Bob Martin, The Drowsy Chaperone) and his challenging patient (Matt Watts, The Newsroom, Twitch City).
“This is the story of an unlikely couple who are trying to cope with anxieties, something all of us can relate to at some point in our lives,” series producer and Rhombus founding partner Niv Fichman said in a statement.
Michael: Tuesdays & Thursdays was created by Martin and is based on Watts’ own life experiences.
Producers include Fichman and Sari Friedland (Slings & Arrows) and executive producers Martin and Don McKellar.
McKellar is also on board as director with Alison MacLean and Patricia Rozema, with writers Martin, Watts, Susan Coyne, Mark McKinney and Katie Ford.
Ed Asner and Sandra Oh are also slated to guest star on the series.
