Canada at TIFF: Bruce’s Sunday picks

Karen Bruce is the Toronto International Film Festival’s director of Canadian Initiatives. Each day of the festival, she’ll share her top programming picks and inside tips for getting the most out of the TIFF experience.

Top Canadian films today?

The three films I’m really excited about today are Leopold, Pink Ribbons Inc. and Carl Bassai’s Brothers and Sisters. Bassai is back, and Brothers and Sisters is the third in a trilogy. We also have I’m Yours by Leonard Farlinger.

Programming picks?

Today, we’re doing the Meet With panel on contemporary Latin cinema, as part of the City to City program. We’re hosting four producers and directors from South America and the panel is hosted by Diana Sanchez, one of our programmers.

I’m also really excited about our Master Class with Bruce McDonald – he’s a legend in indie cinema here in Canada and he will be a big draw tonight.

Favourite moments from Saturday?

I was in the building for the premiere of Barrymore with Christopher Plummer – it was a real delight to have him be a part of the festival.
