Filmmaker Deepa Mehta is to receive a Life of Distinction tribute from Canadian Centre for Diversity at its upcoming awards gala.

Mehta, co-founder of Hamilton-Mehta Productions, will receive the award at the 64^th edition of the kudosfest on Nov. 3 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Ahead of the tribute, Mehta and author Salman Rushdie will be at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival to give a sneak preview of their film adaptation of the Midnight’s Children novel.
