Meg Tilly, Jodi Balfour and Charlotte Hegele have jumped on board Bomb Girls, a homegrown drama about Second World War women at work in a munitions factory from Muse Entertainment and Back Alley Films for Global Television.
Tilly (pictured) will play the role of Lorna, a supervisor at the factory with two sons on the front in the six one-hour drama to shoot in Toronto from Sept. 12 to Nov. 16.
Balfour will play a wealthy socialite who becomes a bomb girl, Hegele (Murdoch Mysteries) will perform the role of a preacher’s daughter and Ali Liebert (Hellcats) will be a fast-talking girl from the Prairies responsible for training the bomb girls.
Also joining the ensemble cast for Bomb Girls is Anastasia Philips, Lisa Norton and Antonio Cupo.
Bomb Girls will bow on Global Television in January 2012.
Michael MacLennan (Flashpoint, Queer as Folk) created the series along with Adrienne Mitchell.
The executive producer credits belong to MacLennan, Mitchell, Michael Prupas and Janis Lundman.
Mitchell and MacLennan will also show-run the drama.
Bomb Girls will be directed by Adrienne Mitchell, Ken Girotti and Anne Wheeler.
The series will be distributed worldwide by Muse Distribution International.
