Canadian films grabbed the spotlight at the just-concluded Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, with Aaron Houston’s Sunflower Hour taking home Czech Television’s Independent Camera Award.
Other Canadian winners include Roméo Onze, from Montreal filmmaker Ivan Grbovic, earning a special mention in the Ecumenical Jury Award competition, and Martin Donovan’s Collaborator, a Canadian-U.S. co-venture coproduced by Luca Matrundola of DViant Films, grabbing the best actor award for David Morse, and the international film critics, or FIPRESCI, prize.
The Czech film festival also staged a tribute to Denis Villeneuve, with the Canadian filmmaker in attendance.
