Toronto’s Rogers Centre, owned by Rogers Communications, has sold out for the IIFA Awards on Saturday, June 25.
So the Bollywood film awards, to take over Toronto that weekend, is to air for the first time in its 12 years on pay-per-view TV, via a deal between Wizcraft, organizers of the IIFA Awards, and OMNI Television, the official Canadian broadcast partner.
For $39.95, Canadian subscribers can view the IIFA Awards live on June 25 through their local cable or DTH satellite provider.
There’s more: to drive viewers to the pay-per-view event, Roger’s OMNI network will do a two-hour special live on the “green carpet” outside Rogers Centre before the IIFA Awards ceremony.
And before that, OMNI’s magazine show Bollywood Blvd., which is all things Bollywood to the TV stations’ Canadian South Asian audience, will air daily during the week preceding the film awards show, starting on June 19.
