Handel Productions hires Barro as VP

Montreal-based Handel Productions is adding André Barro to its executive team as vice president and executive producer.

“I am very pleased to welcome Andre to Handel Productions. His expertise in overseeing an ambitious production slate and in international co-production is a big asset for us,” says Alan Handel, president and executive producer of Handel Productions.

Handel adds that Barro will prove essential during two of the company’s big upcoming projects, Titanic: The Aftermath set to start shooting in Halifax, Nova Scotia in June and Wonders of the Modern World, a 6 x 1 hour series presented by Stephen Hawking.

“With over 20 hours of new high-end factual specials and limited series in pre-production and production, I am looking forward to building on Alan’s vision and his team’s successes,” Barro says.

Barro brings his international factual productions experience to Handel, having worked for Cirrus, Galafilm, Cineflix and Pixcom, where he oversaw the development, production and management of TV programming.
