Remote, a 19-minute film from writer/director Marc Roussel, has taken the A&E Short Filmmakers Award in the NSI Online Short Film Festival.
The thriller, produced by Ron Basch and Mark Sanders, sees a man trying to prevent the murder of a young woman living in his apartment thirty years before. The award comes with a $2,500 prize.
Jury member Anneli Ekborn, observed of the film, “Remote masterfully captured a difficult genre that often can fold into clichés. The structure of the narrative and the twists were very impressive. The directorial choices complemented both the genre and the script. It is a high concept story that is difficult to capture as a short, but Remote pulled it off successfully.’
Roussel trained at Humber College in Toronto and The New York Film Academy.
