All’s well that ends well: Muse Distribution International has secured a slew of foreign sales for its controversial mini-series The Kennedys.
The eight-hour historical drama about the American political dynasty has been licensed to 50 international territories for broadcast led by Quebec’s Super Ecran and ReelzChannel in the US on April 3, followed by Canada’s History Television on April 10.
Other acquiring broadcasters include Sweden’s SVT premiering on April 9, ahead of BBC 2, France Television 3, Switzerland’s TSR and Belgium’s RTBF planning spring or summer broadcasts.
Italy’s La Sette, Spain’s Telecinco, Norway’s NRK, New Zealand’s Sky TV, Belgium’s VRT, Israel’s IBA, Finland’s YLE and Australia’s ABC also acquired The Kennedys.
Muse reports the miniseries will also air throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on AETN History networks, in addition to a host of other European, Asian and Middle Eastern territory deals.
“World-wide reaction to The Kennedys has been phenomenal,” Michael Prupas, president of Muse Distribution International, the miniseries’ distributor, said in a statement.
Muse, the Canadian producer of The Kennedys, which was shot in Toronto, suffered an earlier setback when the History in the U.S. cancelled the eight-part biopic, leading to a new berth with ReelzChannel.
The mini-series is a Muse production in association with Asylum Entertainment.
