The World Wrestling Entertainment’s film studio is backing Barricade, a supernatural thriller from Fido zombie comedy director Andrew Currie to star Eric McCormack (pictured).
The movie from writer Michaelbrent Collings will be shot in and around Vancouver as it portrays a grieving psychiatrist who takes his two kids to a remote cabin for bonding, only to be terrorized by unknown forces he must fend off for survival.
WWE Studios is financing the picture, with Michael Pavone, David Calloway and Lori Lewis as producers.
WWE Studios typically features one of its TV wrestling stars in its action flicks, making McCormack’s star-turn ground-breaking.
The former Will & Grace star is also top-lining in the TNT drama pilot Perception from ABC Studios.
McCormack also starred in the TNT ad agency drama Trust Me, the cable channel’s answer to Mad Men eventually picked up by Super Channel, and co-produced the TNT pilot Imperfect Union.
Currie is currently developing Fido into a TV series with Lionsgate Television, and another movie project, The Truth about Lying, a comedy about a compulsive liar trapped between his pregnant girlfriend and his unbalanced mother.
