Eight homegrown films will be part of the eighth annual Canadian Front showcase in New York, presented by Telefilm Canada and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
These films represent a cross-section of genres – documentary, thriller, comedy, drama, musical – and they include Beauty Day (Primitive Entertainment, Ontario), Force of Nature: The David Suzuki Movie (eOne, NFB, Ontario), Jaloux (Production Kinesis, Quebec), Small Town Murder Songs (STMS Films, Ontario), La Fille de Montréal (Box Film, Quebec), Les Signes vitaux (Les Films Siamois, Quebec), The Neighbor (Mehr Studio and Close-Up Videos in British Columbia, Cinemaeidos in New York).
It will also see the US premiere of TIFF’s 2010 opening film Score: A Hockey Musical (pictured, Mulmur Feed Co., Ontario)
“Canadian Front has introduced narrative, documentary and experimental filmmakers from most provinces north of the border to New Yorkers, bringing to the attention of a discriminating audience eager to spread the word about films it likes beyond The Museum of Modern Art, the works of artists that deserve to be better known in the US,” said Laurence Kardish, MoMA’s senior curator, department of film, in a statement.
Kardish is the organizer of Canadian Front, and its partners include Telefilm Canada with the support of the Canadian Consulate General in New York and the Délégation du Québec in New York.
