Sprockets opens with premiere of Pixar film

The Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children and Youth will open this year’s edition on April 8 with a Hollywood movie, the Pixar Animation Studio short Hawaiian Vacation.

The Pixar film picks up with Toy Story 3 characters Woody and Buzz as they lead a group of toys in giving Ken and Barbie the Hawaiian vacation of their dreams.

The Pixar short is directed by Gary Rydstrom and produced by Galyn Susman.

Also on opening night, Sprockets will feature a sneak peek at the upcoming Disney Pixar release Cars 2.

“Opening with the world premiere of a Pixar short film is a first for us, and we’re delighted to present an exclusive evening with Pixar Animation Studios to Toronto audiences,” Elizabeth Muskala, director of festivals and events at TIFF, said.
