Hot on the heels of The Whistleblower (pictured), Canadian producer Christina Piovesan has landed a new gig that puts her in royal company.
Piovesan’s First Generation Films is partnering with The King’s Speech producers Iain Canning and Emile Sherman to produce the romantic comedy American English from London-based Canadian director Ian Iqbal Rashid (How She Move).
The feature is about a young American woman who learns perfect spoken English to survive in London and marry the man of her dreams. The rub is a visit from her mother threatens to betray her down-market New Jersey roots.
No word on casting.
Piovesan produced Larysa Kondraki’s The Whistleblower, the Canadian thriller starring Rachel Weisz and Vanessa Redgrave that is due for an upcoming U.S. release after an award-winning turn on the festival circuit.
Canning and Sherman will produce via See-Saw Films.
