Women in Film & TV Vancouver has named Lynn Booth, CEO of Make Believe Media, as its Woman of the Year.
WIFTV presents the award to a woman who has achieved significant success in film or television, and is recognized for mentoring other women in the industry.
In a statement, WIFTV says of choosing Booth: “Producer Lynn Booth is honored for her commitment to hiring women in above the line positions (directors, writers, editors, directors of photography) and for her body of work.”
Booth and her company Make Believe Media are known for producing true crime series such as The Devil You Know, on VIVA in Canada and recently bought by Investigation Discovery USA; Very Bad Men and True Pulp Murder. The company has been producing documentaries and series for the past 12 years, including No Fun City, Music is the Medicine and the upcoming Space series, Genesis: The Making of Monsters.
Booth will be honored at the Spotlight Awards of the 6th Annual Vancouver Women in Film Festival on March 4.
