Jack Fleischmann knows a thing or two about live TV.
So CTV has tapped him to run the CTV News Channel, replacing Scott Woodgate. Fleischmann will remain general manager of BNN, the network’s business specialty channel.
Fleischmann is among the latest BCE-era CTV promotions, which includes Paul Rogers becoming the point man for local CTV station news directors as senior vice president of CTV News, and David Hughes becoming executive producer of CTV National News.
The latest moves follow Wendy Freeman replacing Robert Hurst as president of CTV News and Current Affairs, and pending retirements of a slew of top CTV execs, including CEO Ivan Fecan, as BCE swoops in to acquire CTV as part of the traditional phone giant’s digital migration.
Fleischmann, who started out in TV in 1975 as a CBC radio producer in Ottawa, will have the nation’s capital on his mind as the CTV News Channel gets set to take on the upstart Sun TV News channel.
