Maple Pictures has taken the media rights in Canada to Brad Pitt’s forthcoming big screen adaptation of Cogan’s Trade.
The film from Plan B Entertainment, Pitt’s prodco with Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, is based on the 1974 comic crime novel from George V. Higgins, revolving around a professional enforcer in gangland Boston.
Andrew Dominick (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James) is on board as writer/director, with cast members Sam Rockwell, Casey Affleck and Mark Ruffalo.
Cogan’s Trade will enter production in February with a slated early 2012 theatrical release.
Maple’s John Bain and Kimberly Fox of Inferno Distribution for Plan B negotiated the deal.
