Rob Heydon’s feature film Ecstasy, the follow-up to the successful Trainspotting novel (pictured) by Irvine Welsh, is shooting in Toronto through December with Kristin Kreuk and Billy Boyd top-lining.
The $5 million dark romantic comedy is based on the controversial book Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance, by Welsh.
The Ecstasy book has sold widely in 20 countries worldwide.
The screen adaptation – looking to repeat the international success of the 1996 Trainspotting movie directed by Danny Boyle – will also star Olivia Andrup and Adam Sinclair.
British sales agent Intandem Films is to shop the picture worldwide.
