Management changes, departures and reassignments at Shaw Media continue after its recent takeover and rebranding by Shaw Communications.
Shaw Media isn’t commenting directly on senior management changes, but Paul Robertson, the newly-installed president of Shaw Media, in an internal memo issued Monday indicated the cable company was continuing “to build an integrated organization.”
Those changes include local and national news desks forming a single team under the leadership of Troy Reeb, vice president of news. The strategy is to create a single news-gathering team to generate content for Global Television’s national, local, online and current affairs divisions.
Rival CBC/Radio Canada has similarly integrated and modernized its network news services both regionally and nationally.
And local and national sales teams will coalesce round the leadership of Errol Da-Re, senior vice president of sales.
“As we are only partway through the organizational design process, different departments will be announcing varying levels of detail today,” Robertson, who holds ultimate day-to-day control of Shaw Media’s conventional and specialty TV assets, explained.
Other key changes include the content group, led by Barbara Williams, which will “reorganize around function to emphasize and give maximum support to the key disciplines that build our audiences – the acquisition of content, commissioning of original programs, and scheduling.”
