The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in the U.S. has announced that it will be debuting its monthly documentary club in spring of 2011, and that it’s acquired three more titles to add to the films already on the roster.

The new acquisitions include 65_Red Roses, the story of Eva Markvoort, who at the time of filming was suffering from the genetic disease cystic fibrosis, awaiting a double lung transplant, and blogging about her experience under the online handle “65_Red Roses.”

Markvoort died earlier this year at the age of 25.

The film is directed by Nimisha Mukerji and Philip Lyall and produced by Force Four Entertainment in association with CBC Newsworld and Dualogue Productions.

Also coming to OWN’s doc club is One Lucky Elephant, which follows circus producer David Balding as he searches for a permanent home for Flora, the orphaned baby African elephant he raised and made the star of his circus. The film’s directed by Lisa Leeman and executive produced by Sandbar Pictures (L.A.).

L.A.’s Canyonback Films’ Most Valuable Players will also be airing as part of the doc club. The 2010 doc follows three theater troupes as they make their way to the Freddy Awards, the high school theater equivalent of the Tony Awards.

Previously-announced docs acquired by OWN include Precious Life,Sons of Perdition and Life 2.0.
