Principal photography has kicked off on new Spencer Rice (Kenny vs. Spenny, Confessions of a Porn Addict) vehicle, Single White Spenny.

The series stars Deb McGrath (Little Mosque), Nikki Payne (Last Comic Standing), Wayne Thomas York (Meet the Fockers) and 2010 Playback Ten-to- Watch honoree, Amy Matysio (Lullaby for Pi, Corner Gas). Filming runs November 15 to December 15 in Toronto and Hamilton for a spring airdate on Showcase.

The production team is led by Breakthrough Entertainment’s Ira Levy and Peter Williamson, with Rice, Howard Busgang, Tom Nursall, David Steinberg, Stevie Ray Fromstein and Jonathan Walker producing.
Direction is handled by Peter Wellington, Rob Cohen, Ian MacDonald and Duncan Christie.

“Showcase has given me a temporary reprieve from the death sentence of Kenny vs. Spenny so I can do a civilized scripted sitcom where I play a man-child, haplessly attempting to find a soul mate,” said Spencer Rice. “I’m thrilled to be working with Howard Busgang, Tom Nursall and Breakthrough Entertainment.”
