Cineplex Entertainment and Longueuil, Quebec’s D-Box Technologies are expanding their agreement to bring its moving seats to 10 more Canadian theaters.
Around 260 D-Box MFX Seats will be installed over the next 12 months, and the deal also includes an option for another 10 locations. The seats are designed to move in sync with the on-screen action frame-by-frame.
The tech has been previously installed in a Toronto Cineplex theatre, and two more Quebec theatres will also get the experience on November 19, coinciding with the release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. (pictured)
Claude Mc Master, D-Box president and CEO notes in a statement that the expansion “will complement D-BOX’s foray into foreign markets while increasing visibility at home.”
The next film to make use the motion tech will be Disney’s Tron Legacy (3D), slated for a December 17 opening.
