After four and a half years with the Canadian Media Production Association, Mario Mota is leaving his position as VP, broadcasting policy and regulatory affairs next month. Mota plans to work with private consulting practice Boon Dog Professional Services.
Mota came to the team in 2006, when it was known as the Canadian Film and Television Production Association, initially serving as senior director, broadcast relations and research, before moving to his current position in November 2008.
“His passion, thorough research and well-crafted interventions have been instrumental in our successes with the CRTC, most recently with the Shaw/Canwest acquisition,” says a statement from the association.
“We have kept open the door to the possibility of working with Mario in the future. We wish him every success going forward in all his endeavors.”
The CMPA is immediately launching a search to replace Mota. He steps down November 11.
