TVO turns 40

Ontario pubcaster TVO is celebrating the big 4-0 this year, and it’s doing so with a host of activities along with the launch of an online public archive.

“We’ll be unlocking some of TVO’s best educational content from the last 40 years and making it available for free in our new public archive. This includes rare interviews, Ontario stories and kids content that stands the test of time,” said CEO Lisa de Wilde.

Included in the festivities are on-air programming, which kicked off Monday evening, a new commemorative anniversary song and a month-long Where’s Polkaroo photo contest, in which Ontarians can win a day behind-the-scenes at the TVO studios.

Meanwhile, the public archive will grant users access to TVO content from the last 40 years, and it will include interviews, historical information and educational content for kids.
