Montreal-based Equinoxe Films has acquired the feature Finch & Midland as the Canadian distributor and international sales agent.
The film, from Toronto-based prodcos Righteous Alliance Entertainment (RAE) and F&M Productions, is written and directed by Timothy Yeung and stars Hong Kong actors Anthony Wong Chau-sang (Infernal Affairs; pictured, right), Nina Paw Hee-ching (Lost in Time) and Patrick Tam (Beast Cops). Finch & Midland began production on Aug. 28 and wrapped on Sept. 25.
Equinoxe is set to release the film in 2025.
Also starring is Harriet Yeung (The Sparring Partner), Hong Kong-Canadian actor Theresa Lee (Intimates) and Ukrainian-Canadian actor Dmitry Chepovetsky (Children Ruin Everything; pictured, left).
Finch & Midland is an anthology that follows the experiences of immigrants from Hong Kong in the Toronto neighbourhood of Finch and Midland. The film is produced by independent producer Kim Yu and executive produced by RAE’s Ridley Tsui and Annie Lee.
Finch & Midland was independently funded by RAE, the parent company of F&M, with a budget of around $2.1 million, according to a spokesperson for the film.
