CTV serves up new season of MasterChef Canada

The culinary competition series will return from a four-year hiatus with a new production team.

CTV is bringing back its culinary competition series MasterChef Canada following a multi-year hiatus.

The Bell Media-owned network has ordered season eight for 2025-26, which will be produced by Toronto-based McGillivray Entertainment Media.

Production is set to begin early 2025 on the 11-episode season, with a casting call for amateur cooks eager to take home the $100,000 cash prize open until midnight on Nov. 17. It will be a “new take on a familiar and beloved format,” according to a news release.

The Canadian edition of the international format first premiered on CTV on Jan. 20, 2014, and ended its seventh season on May 16, 2021. The series was originally produced by Endemol Shine International and Boat Rocker-owned Proper Television.

The deal for the new season was brokered by Banijay Rights, the global distribution arm of Banijay Entertainment, which acquired Endemol Shine Group in 2020.

“The MasterChef format is a proven success around the world and has launched the careers of many talented home cooks, including our very own Mary Berg [MasterChef Canada season three winner],” said Justin Stockman, Bell Media’s VP, content development and programming, in a statement.

Additional information, including the judging panel, will be announced at a later date.
