Reports from last week’s Tokyo Game Show reveal that game giant Capcom, creators of the Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Mega Man franchises, is acquiring B.C.-based developer Blue Castle Games.
According to reports, the studio has been renamed Capcom Games Studio Vancouver.
The Japan company had previously worked with Blue Castle on its Dead Rising franchise and had teamed up again on the sequel, Dead Rising 2, which is slated for release on September 28.
Blue Castle, a third-party developer, was formed in 2005, and its website states that it employs more than 160 people. Other games to its credit are sports-centric titles, including The BIGS, MLB Front Office Manager, and The BIGS 2, all published by 2K Sports.
Capcom has other branches across North America, Europe and Asia.
