Score Media buys minority stake in software developer

Score Media has acquired a minority 20% stake in software developer NuLayer for an undisclosed price.

Toronto-based Score, whose sport properties are increasingly migrating onto the Internet and mobile platforms, said it also signed a multi-year technology development agreement with NuLayer.

The Toronto-based digital producer developed the app theScore iPad Edition for Score Media as part of a bid to reach sports fans globally across an expanding array of platforms.

Future NuLayer technology destined for theScore and other customers includes Crowdreel.com, a social media photo sharing application, web applications, and MMOG, a multiplayer online game.

“NuLayer understands our vision and through this investment, we’ve now created an environment where NuLayer and Score Media can continue to work together to develop innovative digital offerings while giving NuLayer the resources they need to achieve explosive growth,” Benjie Levy, executive vice president and COO at Score Media, said.
