WildBrain has implemented a new leadership and team structure for its distribution and television businesses.
The media company announced Wednesday (Sept. 25) that Katie Wilson (pictured left) has been appointed as VP, global sales and acquisitions.
Reporting to Kate Smith, EVP, audience engagement, Wilson will lead WildBrain’s content sales teams and drive commercial and rights strategies for WildBrain’s kids’ and family content libraries. In addition, she will oversee sales revenue as well as the management of transactional rights and sales in the U.S. and lead third-party content acquisitions and related production relationships.
Wilson was formerly VP, channels and global acquisitions at WildBrain and has been with the company since 2020. She has commissioned several series for WildBrain channels, including The Fabulous Show with Fay and Fluffy, Caillou, Ruby and the Well, Summer Memories, Life with Luca, Badjelly and an upcoming docuseries about the Degrassi franchise. Prior to WildBrain, she worked at Corus Entertainment as a director of programming and Teletoon as a manager of scheduling.
WildBrain also announced two promotions within the sales team. Darcee McCartney has been promoted to director, sales, reporting to Wilson. Rachel Julkowski has been upped to sales manager and will report to McCartney.
Wilson, Smith, McCartney and Julkowski will all be part of the audience engagement team WildBrain is sending to MIPJunior and MIPCOM next month.
Brian Cuff (pictured right) has been appointed to the role of VP and general manager at WildBrain Television. In this role, Cuff will lead WildBrain’s broadcast teams for its four broadcast channels: Family Channel, Family Jr., WildBrainTV and Télémagino. He will oversee daily operations, revenue streams and business development. In addition, Cuff will also lead partner relations across television distribution and broadcast regulatory bodies.
While Wilson will continue to be the main point of contact for TV commissions, Cuff will be the one in charge of greenlighting projects, a spokesperson for WildBrain confirmed to Playback Daily.
Cuff was formerly WildBrain Television’s VP of distribution and strategic partnerships and has been with the company’s television division since 2015. Cuff’s experience prior to WildBrain includes time at Sony Pictures Television as VP, distribution, Canada and at Shaw Media as VP, distribution strategy.
