Guru Studio has hired Laura Dundas as VP of production.
Effective this month, Dundas is responsible for overseeing the Toronto-based studio’s productions, as well fostering relationships with the studio’s production partners and new clients.
She reports directly to Frank Falcone, Guru’s president and executive creative director.
Dundas most recently served as head of animation production for North America at ReDefine, where she produced two SpongeBob movies for Nickelodeon.
Prior to her role at ReDefine, Dundas was a producer at Spin Master, contributing to titles such as Paw Patrol: The Movie, Mighty Express, Toca Boca Life Stories and Rusty Rivets 3. Before Spin Master, Dundas also served as producer at Brown Bag Films on three seasons of Nature Cat.
An Emmy-nominated producer, she has more than 20 years of experience in both 2D and 3D animation.
Dundas will join the Guru team at the Ottawa International Animation Film Festival this week, and at MIPJunior/MIPCOM next month.
Guru Studio’s recently productions include My Magic Pet Morphle for Moonbug Entertainment and the mini-series adaptation of Charlotte’s Web for Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max. The company announced in February it has acquired the TV rights to the popular book Where’s Spot? and over 25 other Spot titles.
“Laura’s production leadership on features, television and international co-productions helps broaden Guru’s expertise as we continue to innovate our production capabilities and content partnerships,” said Falcone in a statement.
