Creative BC has hired Katharine Pavoni in the newly-created role of deputy director for the BC Film Commission.
Pavoni will oversee the Reel Green and Creative Pathways initiatives, as well as the regional services across B.C. The role was created to help build capacity, opportunity and enhanced resources for the local film and TV industry, according to a news release.
She will report to Marnie Gee, B.C. film commissioner and director of production services at Creative BC
Pavoni has more than 15 years of experience in the film and TV sector, including several years as a production manager. She was the first Vancouver-based agent at Meridian Artists. Prior to joining Meridian Artists, Pavoni worked for Creative BC as the manager of industry and community affairs.
She most recently served as the director of industry programs and services at Actsafe Safety Association in Vancouver.
“Katharine is well-connected, deeply respected, tremendously experienced,” said Gee in a statement. “The industry trusts her for big and inclusive thinking, bridge-building and for getting things done in a good, green, and viable way.”
