Continuum continues with FilmRise acquiring digital rights

The sci-fi drama originally ran for four seasons on Showcase and Syfy and was created by Simon Barry.

New York-based film and TV studio and streamer FilmRise has picked up exclusive digital distribution rights to the 42 x 60-minute sci-fi series Continuum from B.C.’s Thunderbird Entertainment Group Inc.

FilmRise will distribute the entire series digitally in the U.S. and Canada, according to a news release.

Continuum aired for four seasons from 2012 to 2015 on Showcase and Syfy and was created by showrunner and executive producer Simon Barry. Reunion Pictures (which was acquired by Thunderbird Films, now Thunderbird Entertainment Group, in 2013) produced the series with partners Tom Rowe, Lisa Richardson and Matthew O’Connor executive producing.

The series stars Rachel Nichols as a cop from the year 2077 trapped in present-day Vancouver as she pursues ruthless criminals from the future.

“Following its departure from Netflix, devoted fans have been eager to access the cult favorite title online. FilmRise is thrilled to be able to make the series accessible to a wide audience,” said Jonitha Keymoore, head of content for FilmRise, in a statement.
