Corus Entertainment-owned channels have been added back to cable provider Eastlink’s roster following a year-long carriage dispute.
A total of 33 Corus channels have returned to the service effective Thursday (June 6), including The History Channel, Food Network Canada, W Network and HGTV Canada, as well as kids channels YTV and Treehouse.
The channels were dropped from Halifax-headquartered Eastlink on June 27, 2023. At the time, Eastlink said it was unable to reach a deal with Corus on the carriage of its channels, but no further details were released.
The channels are available to Eastlink TV customers via the Corus Theme Packs.
“Our goal has always been to deliver our networks to as many Canadians as possible,” said Greg McLelland, Corus’ EVP and chief revenue officer, in a statement. “The customizable subscriptions, including theme packs unique to Eastlink, will allow their customers to reconnect with Corus’ strong brands and hit series.”
Eastlink CEO Jeff Gillham added that the company had been “working closely with Corus” to bring the channels back to its customers.
