BANFF names hosts, recipients for 2024 Rockie Awards

The Rockies Gala Awards will be hosted by comedian Allana Harkin, while Late Bloomer's Jasmeet Raina will host the Rockie Awards International Program Competition.

The Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) has unveiled the recipients for the 2024 Rockies Gala Awards, as well as the hosts for the Festival’s two nights of award ceremonies.

The first round of recipients of the Rockies Gala Awards include Robin Roberts (Good Morning America, Rock’n Robin Productions) for the Inclusion Award; Renée Elise Goldsberry (Girls5eva) for the Creative Voice Award; and Canadian comedian Tom Green for the Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award.

The Innovative Producer Award will be presented to Montreal-based production company Attraction; Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Kim’s Convenience) picks up the Canadian Award Of Distinction; while Kevin Beggs, chairman and chief creative officer, Lionsgate Television Group and chair of the board of directors, BANFF Television Festival Foundation, receives the Award Of Excellence. Additional winners will be announced at the ceremony.

The Rockies Gala Awards will be handed out on the evening of June 10, with hosting duties performed by Emmy Award-winning executive producer, correspondent, director and writer, Allana Harkin (pictured left).

Harkin has 10 Emmy nominations for her work over seven seasons on TBS’s Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and has written, directed and starred in numerous television shows for Amazon, Nick Jr., TBS, TNT CBC, CTV and Hulu.

Crave’s Late Bloomer star Jasmeet Raina (pictured right), also known by his YouTube personality Jus Reign, will host BANFF’s juried Rockie Awards International Program Competition the following night.

Timed at the kickoff to Emmy Award nomination voting, this global competition attracts participation from more than 45 countries and features an international jury of 150 senior entertainment industry professionals.

Category winners – including the Grand Jury Prize, the Rogers Prize for Excellence in Canadian Content, the Emerging Talent Prize, the Prix Francophone Prize and other special prizes – will be announced during the Festival on June 11.

BANFF runs from June 9 to 12.
