HighballTV acquires 26-film catalogue from Films We Like

The North American SVOD will roll out the Canadian and international films between April and July.

Toronto-based subscription streaming platform HighballTV has acquired Canadian SVOD rights to a catalogue of films from Canadian indie distributor Films We Like.

The 26 acquired titles are made up of nine feature films and seventeen feature docs that will roll out on the platform between April and July.

The catalogue has films from the U.S., Canada, Germany, Sweden, Iran and France. Canadian titles include Guy Maddin features Tales From The Gimli Hospital (1988) and Archangel (1990) as well as Ron Mann’s 2018 feature doc, Carmine Street Guitars. The deal also includes films from international filmmakers like Jafar Panahi, Mia Hansen Love, Christian Petzold and Roy Andersson, among others.

The deal was brokered by HighballTV’s Niall Macpherson and Michael Boyuk from Films We Like.

“We’re delighted to be able to acquire this selection of films from Film We Like’s stellar catalogue of international titles,” said HighballTV’s head of acquisitions, Macpherson. “Their addition enables us to expand upon HighballTVs curated collections and our existing line-up of acclaimed fiction and nonfiction films from over 50 countries worldwide.”
