TVOKids will debut the live-action series Secrets of the Forest on Earth Day.
The new original 26 x 11-minute series is produced by Toronto’s Fifth Ground Entertainment, and follows 10-year-old host Taviss Edwards as she travels coast to coast, visiting National Parks in Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Northern Ontario.
Produced by Raj Panikkar and Chris Szarka of Fifth Ground, with support from Shaw Rocket Fund and the Canada Media Fund, Secrets of the Forest is the company’s third commission from TVOKids. The show is co-created with executive producer and director Melissa Peters.
Featuring insights from scientists at Parks Canada, University of Toronto, Western University, Trent University, Ontario Parks, The Toronto Zoo, BCParks and others, the series intends to invoke a greater curiosity and deeper understanding of our ecosystems in young viewers.
Secrets of the Forest will premiere on April 22 on TVOKids in Ontario, and across Canada online on TVOkids.com, YouTube and smart TV services such as Roku and Apple TV.
