CBC Kids has renewed Lopii Productions’ preschool series Bestest Day Ever with My Best Friend! for a second season.
The 20 x 7-minute season will go into production in Toronto starting in April, with a premiere set for winter 2025, according to a news release.
The series, aimed at kids aged three to six, is created and produced by Lopii. Each episode follows host Lisette Xavier as she meets up with a young pet owner and their pet.
Lopii is now casting for the second season, said the release.
The first season is nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Writing, Pre-School for Tyra Sweet and Rennata López, and Best Original Music, Factual, Lifestyle, Reality, or Entertainment for Jorge Lopez, Ari Posner and Kris Kuzdak.
“Bestest Day Ever with My Best Friend! shares the owners’ genuine love for their animals, and Lisette’s infectious energy, with families and young viewers across the country,” said Swin Chang, executive in charge of production and development at CBC Kids, in a statement. “Working with our partners at Lopii Productions, we look forward to introducing audiences to a new group of friends in season two.”
