Minister of Canadian Heritage Pascale St-Onge will address delegates at the Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) in June.
The Minister will make an address during the festival’s Indigenous Screen Summit and at the festival’s opening ceremonies on June 9.
The address will mark St-Onge’s first appearance at the festival since being sworn in as Heritage Minister last July. St-Onge was previously Minister of Sport before taking over the Heritage portfolio, in addition to serving as Minister responsible for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec.
“We are especially honoured to host Minister St-Onge at the Festival to help us celebrate 45 years of this internationally renowned industry gathering, and to address the important issues, policies and technologies that are charting the future growth of our sector,” said Jenn Kuzmyk, executive director of BANFF and VP, publisher of Playback, in a statement.
“We look forward to working with the Canadian government and all media and culture sector stakeholders to advance priorities that strengthen Canada’s creative industries,” she continued.
BANFF takes place at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alta., and runs from June 9 to 12.
Last week, festival organizers announced that Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade will be among its keynote speakers. Additional speakers include a trio of Universal Studio Group execs: Erin Underhill, president of Universal Television; Beatrice Springborn, president of UCP and Universal International Studios; and Toby Gorman, president of Universal Television Alternative Studio.
