Trilight, Barbershop go to camera on two films in Saskatchewan

Gifts of Christmas and Escape the Lodge are directed by Jeremy Drummond.

Saskatchewan-based Trilight Entertainment and Barbershop Films have started rolling on two feature films in Waskesiu Lake, Sask.

Gifts of Christmas is produced by Trilight’s Shayne Putzlocher and Jessica Watch, along with Barbershop’s Jeremy Drummond. Executive producers are Daniel Ford Beavis and Kimberley Cardina.

The film was written by Carey Tufts and directed by Drummond. It follows a woman attempting to save her family’s legacy resort from being sold, and stars Teagan Vincze, Clayton James and Brenna Coates.

Escape the Lodge, meanwhile, sees a woman trapped at a remote lodge with her estranged father’s killers. The film is written by Nicole Field and directed by Drummond, and shares the same production team as Gifts of Christmas. It stars Chloe McClay, Emma Newton, Leo Fafard, Thomas Perras, Kent Allen and Ford Beavis.

Gifts of Christmas and Escape the Lodge have the support of Creative Saskatchewan, as well as financing from executive producer Daniel Ford Beavis, along with Trilight and Barbershop.

Both films are being distributed through Trilight’s distribution subsidiary, Trilight International. The producers estimate the films will have a $1.4 million positive economic impact on the province.
