Close to You heads to European Film Market

The Canada/U.K. copro is directed by Dominic Savage, who co-wrote with star Elliot Page.

Former Charades executive Jean-Félix Dealberto is handling international sales for Elliot Page-led film Close to You, and will be introducing the film to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin.

Close to You is directed by the U.K.’s Dominic Savage, who co-wrote the script with Halifax-born Page.

The film is produced by Daniel Bekerman and Chris Yurkovich of Toronto-based Good Question Media, Krishnendu Majumdar and Richard Yee of the U.K.’s Me + You Productions, as well as Page under his banner Pageboy Productions and Savage.

Close to You is co-financed by L.A.-based Kindred Spirit. Executive producers include Anita Gou, Sam Intili, Nia Vazirani, Matt Jordan Smith, Andrew Frank and Francine Maisler.

Page stars as a trans man living in Toronto, who returns to his home in Cobourg, Ont. for a visit and is faced with buried feelings for his family and a high school friend. 

Greenwich Entertainment acquired U.S. rights to the film following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Mongrel Media holds Canadian distribution rights. 

Close to You is expected to open in theatres this summer. 

The European Film Market runs from Feb. 15 to 21.
