Carib Tales told at TIFF

Caribbean producers are piggy-backing on the Toronto International Film Festival to jump-start distribution of their product into the international market.

Around 25 top film and TV producers will attend the launch of CaribbeanTales Worldwide Distribution, a Toronto-based distribution outfit that targets the English-speaking Caribbean market.

Looking to find international buyers for Caribbean-themed content, the producers and filmmakers will participate in a three-day incubator for new projects and networking opportunities during TIFF, including scheduled events on September 7 and 13.

“There is an explosion of content coming out of the Caribbean and a need for a focused distribution strategy to ensure that this gets the best deals on the international market.” Frances-Anne Solomon, CEO of CaribbeanTales Worldwide Distribution, said.

Timed for TIFF, the distributor will unveil a catalog of over 50 films and TV shows by filmmakers from the Caribbean and its diaspora.
