With Love and a Major Organ sells in Canada

Montreal's Filmoption will release Kim Albright's debut feature in theatres across Canada in early 2024.

Kim Albright’s debut feature With Love and a Major Organ has been acquired for Canadian distribution.

Montreal’s Filmoption International is on board as the distributor and international sales agent.

The magical realism comedy, directed by Albright and written by Julia Lederer, is slated to release in theatres across Canada in early 2024.

With Love and a Major Organ is based on a play by Lederer and produced by Madeleine Davis, and is set in a world where “everyone’s heart is an object.” The film centres on a woman (played by Anna Maguire) who gives her heart to a man (Hamza Haq) she’s fallen for. Lori Lozinski and Dr. Carol Whiteman are executive producers.

The film has been awarded several honours to date, including Best Feature Film, Best Actor for Haq, and Best Cinematography for Leonardo Harim at the Reelworld Film Festival; Best B.C. Director for Kim Albright at the Whistler Film Festival; and Best Narrative Feature Film the Santa Fe Film Festival.

“Kim Albright offers a fresh perspective on genre cinema, and her debut feature no doubt will catch the hearts of every theatre-goer,” said Filmoption’s president Maryse Rouillard in a statement

Davis added: “Filmoption is a solid partner that recognizes and values the talent of local creators and emerging talent. We cannot wait for audiences to fall in love with our film.”

This is a corrected story. A previous version had erroneous information from the source that the film had been sold in the U.S.
