Kevin Gillis’ Skywriter Media & Entertainment Group and Brazilian partner Mixer have partnered to develop and produce the kids cartoon series Vivi for TVO.

Mixer will complete the animation on the children’s series, while Toronto-based Skywriter will do the pre-production and post production.

Vivi will portray the adventures of a curious artistic girl and her grandmother as they relive travel tales through an ever-growing scrapbook.

The TVO series comes with an online component.

Kate Barris (Max & Ruby) will serve as executive story editor on the project, which will mix live action with 2D cut-out animation.

Besides Canadian tax credits and other money, Vivi can count on funding from the Brazilian program, AnimaTV, to develop and sustain local animation production in the South American market.

Skywriter Distribution will be distributing Vivi worldwide.
