Vapor Music launches division for long-form content

Long Division is led by Brendan Quinn and Erin Scott, and focuses on audio production services for live-action and animated content.

Toronto and Vancouver-based audio production studio Vapor Music has launched a new long-form audio division dedicated to live-action and animated content.

Long Division is led by Vapor Music’s creative director Brendan Quinn, and executive producer Erin Scott. The launch of the new division was announced on Monday (Nov. 20).

Long Division’s services include casting, directing dialogue, underscoring scenes, original composition and music licensing, as well as sound design and effects, offered across Vapor Music’s five studios in Toronto and one in Vancouver.

The division also provides music supervision and sync licensing services, led by Heather Gardner, head of music supervision and licensing at Vapor Music, and Telan Wong, music supervisor and content manager.

The company said in a news release that the division was established out of a need to separate its long-form capabilities and services from its commercial production work, over concerns that the company was moving away from the ad sector.

“Vapor Music is already the standard for both short- and long-form audio production,” said Quinn in a statement, adding, “but without a separate brand identity, the industry might not recognize the full power of what we are able to deliver. Long Division addresses this perception issue.”

Vapor Music’s owner and managing partner, Lindsey Bates, added: “Studios, showrunners, producers and content developers looking to create long-form audio want to know that they can find everything under one roof. Spinning off Long Division into a separate unit ensures that we have the scope — and the ability to scale up quickly — to meet client demand, no matter the request or specific need.”
