Seth Rogen joins CBC’s Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down

Rogen joins as a guest judge and executive producer under his production banner Point Grey Pictures, with Jennifer Robertson set to host.

Vancouver-born actor and producer Seth Rogen has boarded CBC’s upcoming reality competition series The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down as a guest judge and an executive producer, through his Point Grey Pictures prodco.

The 8 x 60-minute series will be hosted by actor Jennifer Robertson (Schitt’s Creek, Ginny & Georgia) and is set to premiere on the CBC in winter 2024. It is produced by Winnipeg and Toronto-based Frantic Films with the participation of Point Grey Pictures.

The show will see 10 amateur potters take on challenges to create pieces inspired by their personal lives and that showcase their skill and passion for clay, with one ceramicist eliminated by the judges each week.

The series is adapted from The Great Pottery Throw Down, a popular original British format originally created and owned by Love Productions, which is also behind The Great British Baking Show. The CBC version was filmed this summer on Vancouver’s Granville Island under the jurisdiction of ACTRA in Canada.

A skilled potter in his own right, Rogen is an actor, producer, director and co-founder of the cannabis lifestyle company Houseplant. Rounding out the judges are Vancouver-based artist and ceramics instructor Brendan Tang and renowned ceramicist and educator Natalie Waddell from Toronto.

“Building on CBC’s slate of uniquely Canadian competition series, The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down invites audiences into the increasingly popular world of pottery where we showcase a group of inspiring creators in pursuit of their personal best,” said Jennifer Dettman, CBC’s executive director of unscripted content, in a statement.
