Corus Entertainment’s Waterside Studios and podcast network Curiouscast have partnered with U.K.-based podcast producer Blanchard House to produce four podcasts, all of which will be adapted for television.
The first project under the deal is Black and Blue: Behind The Badge, a true crime podcast focused on the experiences of Black officers in law enforcement, which one of them calls “the biggest gang in America.”
Set to launch on Oct. 17 on Curiouscast and hosted by Seren Jones, Black and Blue: Behind The Badge follows the story of Michael Morrison, who faced racism and violence after joining the police force, making him question everything he thought he knew about justice, community, and himself.
Waterside Studios launched in 2022 to develop scripted content, with a focus on adapting IP for television targeted to youth and primetime viewers. Its first production is the book-based teen series Geek Girl for YTV in Canada and Netflix globally.
“From the very beginning, our goal at Curiouscast has been to partner with and elevate exceptional creators and storytellers,” said Chris Duncombe, director of streaming and podcasting for Curiouscast in a statement. “We are thrilled to launch our new multi-platform partnership with Blanchard House and Waterside Studios, furthering that goal to bring compelling stories and unique perspectives to global listeners.”
