Bell Media’s Crave has commissioned Slaycation, a new format in the Drag Race franchise, produced by Blue Ant Studios and World of Wonder (WOW) in association with the streamer.
The six-part unscripted series features six queens from across the international franchise vacationing together in a Canadian winter cabin, culminating in a drag performance for the local community.
The series will be released on Crave for both English and French Canada, and will run day-and-date on WOW Presents Plus globally.
The new title joins a Crave and WOW Presents Plus slate that also includes the first three seasons of Canada’s Drag Race (pictured), with a fourth season scheduled to premiere later this year, as well as two seasons of Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs. The World.
Justin Stockman, VP, content development and programming, Bell Media described the series as a “trailblazing new format” in a statement.
“Our focus is about working with the best-in-class talent around the world and partnering with broadcasters and streamers globally,” said Blue Ant Media CCO Laura Michalchyshyn and Blue Ant Studios co-president Matt Hornburg in a joint statement. “Blue Ant Media’s latest collaboration with Crave and WOW on this new original series is this version exemplified.”
