Producer Jordan Walker has been hired to lead business development at Ontario content hub StylePhoto Studios (SP Studios).
As VP of business development, Walker (pictured) is responsible for expanding the company’s production work in commercial content to include indie projects, overseeing strategic planning, attracting new partners and identifying new ways to apply technology to content creation. He joined the company in July, according to SP Studios’ news release on the hiring.
The studio, based in Concord, Ont., recently launched a virtual production LED wall, constructed by German film equipment manufacturer Arri, and utilizes high-speed cinematic robot technology Bolt X. Its commercial content clients include Canadian Tire and Puma.
Walker has produced a number of features with filmmaker Jeremy LaLonde, including James vs. His Future Self and How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town. He also recently served as the director of the Toronto Film School’s film production program.
Walker told Playback Daily that he has already established a few projects at SP Studios with previous collaborators, including LaLonde, Andrew Bronfman, Jake Horowitz, Jonas Chernick and Lauren Corber.
He said he has also begun work on a program with CEO Khasan Aripov to help emerging Black, Indigenous and people of colour creators to access their technology by sponsoring two projects by the end of the year.
“I see the integration of independent film and television projects as a critical element of our expansion strategy,” said Walker. “I firmly believe that these collaborations will be a significant driving force in revolutionizing the way we approach film production.”
