Horror-western production wraps in Calgary

Morgan Ermter and Griffin Cork are directors, writers and producers on the project, which filmed across several locations in Alberta.

Filming has wrapped in Calgary on a horror-western title from filmmakers and producers Morgan Ermter and Griffin Cork, which is expected to be released worldwide.

Several details on the production, which was shot under the working title Project: Six-Shooter, are currently under wraps, according to Calgary prodco Numera Films.

Principal photography began June 15, and the production filmed in a number of locations in Alberta, including Lethbridge, Bassano, Sundre, East Coulee, and Drumheller, before wrapping on Aug. 7.

According to a news release, the project is a fusion of the horror and western genres in which Old West traders get caught up in the supernatural. The lead cast members are Reamonn Joshee (Abracadavers), Emily Howard (My Life with the Walter Boys) and Alice Wordsworth (Crow), and several actors from Calgary round out the cast, including Joel David Taylor (Hell on Wheels), Michael Rolfe (Wynonna Earp), Hailey Foss (Red Letter Day), Karen Johnson-Diamond (Fargo) and Mike Tan.

“We owe a lot to the strength of the independent industry in Alberta,” said Cork in a statement. “We’ve felt a lot of love in terms of hometown support, but the work that the community has been doing to bolster the film scene here is absolutely integral.”

Ermter added that the production is “one of the most ambitious projects” Numera has undertaken.

The Calgary prodco is behind the web series Abracadavers, which led nominations at the Alberta screen industry’s Rosie Awards last year, and the 2022 documentary Oma, which was acquired by Screen Media and Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment.
