Three interactive digital media projects have been selected to receive a total of $556,824 through the Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive.
The fund is administered by the Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (MBM), which oversees the film and media industry in the German capital region.
The projects receiving funding under the Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive include An Empty Seat, a video coproduction between Montreal’s Art et Essai and Berlin-based High Road Stories. CMF and MBM have provided $60,000 each — a total of $120,000 — in development support to the project.
The other two projects are games. Wildermage: The Magic of Here by British Columbia-based Wildermage Games and Berlin’s ootiboo has obtained $154,038 in development funding. The CMF is contributing $87,799 while MBM is providing $66,240.
Nova Scotia’s Red Meat Games and Berlin-based Honig Studios’ game dA.I.ting: Internet of Flings is receiving $282,785 in production funding, split equally between the CMF and MBM.
Funding decisions for the Canada-Germany Digital Media Incentive were made by a selection committee made up of CMF and MBB representatives according to a set of criteria, including “innovative and creative elements, how projects engage the targeted community and audience, the creative team, and the viability of the projects’ budget and timelines.”
